Grid Portraits

In high school, they used to have us cut images into strips, and then draw each strip. The idea was to destroy the image to the point where you could no longer tell what you were drawing, so you could focus on drawing exactly what you saw in each strip without any bias. Throughout the years, I’ve taken that concept and applied it to a grid, and used it to help me proportionately scale drawings up, sometimes even to about 8 feet tall.
